Domaine de Beaurenard Chateauneuf du Pape 1998 750ml
Wine Spectator 91
Shows lovely truffle, spice box, dried currant and date aromas and flavors, with fine-grained tannins that leave a hint of cinnamon and a lovely lingering note of wet earth on the still fleshy finish.--1998 Châteauneuf-du-Pape retrospective.

Beaurenard's 1998 Chateauneuf du Pape (70% Grenache and 10% each of Syrah, Mourvedre and Cinsault aged in small barrels and foudre) is a beautiful, fully mature red that offers lots of coffee bean, roasted herbs, garrigue and sweet, almost chocolaty fruit. Nicely balanced, medium-bodied and textured, it opens up well with air and is drinking at point.
